NDAA §848 Compliance Lookup for Drone BOMs
A manufacturer’s address alone does not establish where a flight controller, radio or camera was made. Start with the exact part, then follow the evidence to the origin and component category your reviewer needs.

What NDAA §848 asks you to check
Section 848 of the FY2020 NDAA restricts DoD operation and procurement of covered unmanned aircraft systems with specified foreign-country connections. Its scope includes certain components, ground-control systems, operating software, network connectivity and data storage. A component check is one input to the system-level review.
- Identify the manufacturer and exact part number.
- Separate manufacturing origin from headquarters or ownership.
- Check whether the part is in a covered component category.
- Hold unknown origin, ambiguous matches and conflicting evidence for review.
Official sources
Does a “no findings” result prove my whole drone is compliant?
No. It means the available data did not trigger the rules screened for that input. Your reviewer still needs to resolve unknowns, confirm the assembled configuration and apply current amendments, contract terms and any applicable exemptions.
Screening supports a documented review; it does not replace a legal or contracting determination. Your finding identifies the screened data version and available sources.
